Igloo IMX
The Igloo IMX Cooler series is one of the brand’s latest releases for this year. We were impressed with the affordable price tags that came with each model, but we were even more impressed with its performance.
For starters, we believe that the “IM” in “IMX” stands for “Injection Molded”. This means that it’s not your typical rotomolded cooler.
Because of its injection-molded construction, the Igloo IMX coolers are 30 to 40 percent lighter than its rotomolded counterparts – without sacrificing its ice retention efficiency.
The Igloo IMX series comes in two sizes, 24 and 70 quarts, while also giving users two colors to choose from – namely, white and gray.
Thanks to its Cooler Riser Technology, the cooling performance of the IMX line is unparalleled, even when placed on hot surfaces.
While the cooler boasts ice retention of up to 8 days, we believe that the 70-quart model can preserve the ice for up to 5 to 6 days, while the smaller 24-quart model can keep the ice for 2 to 3 days. However, this number can still vary, depending on whether you’re applying cooler best practices or not.
Most importantly, we love that this line of coolers has UV inhibitors and built with marine-grade rubberized latches. This guarantees heavy-duty performance – even under the toughest of conditions.
Igloo BMX
If you think the IMX line is affordable, wait until you hear about the Igloo BMX Coolers.
We believe the “BM” stands for blow-molded, owing to the fact that these coolers are indeed blow molded. Because of this construction, it is one of the most affordable coolers from Igloo – in fact, it’s a lot more affordable than the IMX.
The Igloo BMX line comes in one color scheme and is available in three sizes. You can choose between 25, 52, and 72 quarts, all depending on your cooler needs.
Being blow-molded, this cooler line from Igloo can hold ice for up to 4 days at an outdoor heat of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, this depends on other external factors, which may shorten or lengthen the period
But with that said, the ice retention period is shorter than that of the Igloo IMX. But considering its price, we’d think it would be great for weekend trips or as an entry-level cooler for your home.
The other features of the Igloo BMX include rubberized T-latches to securely lock in the cold, skid pads for extra protection around the corners, as well as a diamond plate metal insert that guarantees ruggedness and durability.
Overall, we find the Igloo BMX Coolers to be one of the best entry-level coolers for this year.
